Imagination Library

Imagination Library And The Valdosta Area Rotary Clubs

In 1995 Dolly Parton launched Imagination Library to foster a love of reading among preschool children. Since 2009 Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has been an official Service Partner with Rotary International, a worldwide organization that provides humanitarian services. In 2009 all the Rotary Clubs in Valdosta adopted Imagination Library as a community service project. We believe that early reading is important to the entire community because it leads to a lifetime of opportunity. We raise money to provide Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library books for free to children in Lowndes Countyeach month from birth to 5th birthday.

Since the inception of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program in Lowndes County in 2009, we have raised over $100,000 and enrolled over 1,250 children. But there are over 8,000 children in Lowndes County under age five. It takes $25 to provide a child with an Imagination Library book each month for a year or $125 from birth to the child’s 5th birthday. To help children in Lowndes County receive Imagination Library books, please send a tax-deductible donation made out to “Valdosta Rotary Foundation” with “Imagination Library” in the memo line to Valdosta Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 517, Valdosta, GA 31603.
