The South Georgia Literacy Festival, sponsored by Snake Nation Press, will take place on September 8-9, 2017, at the Rainwater Center in Valdosta, Georgia. This event will host fifty (50) well-known writers, and at least 1,000 or more visitors. Local groups of pre-school children will be attending to take part in reading activities designed just for them.
Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 to promote reading and writing instructions for adults and young people who do not have those skills or who have had problems in the past writing resumes, applying for jobs, or just reading and understanding simple directions. 4.6% of the population in Lowndes County did not attend high school and 11.5% never completed high school or the GED. This indicates that a large number of people in our own community are lacking basic reading and writing skills. A literate populace, able to learn new job skills impacts the numbers of new businesses, and adds to everyone’s level of prosperity. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Southside Library in Valdosta.
Snake Nation Press is currently looking for sponsors who will help us reach this goal. We count on you to donate whatever is in your budget for this kind of project.
As a thank-you for your generosity of at least $500, your company will have a table at the Literacy Festival for your banner, logo, and materials. Your logo with name and address will be on all correspondence and printed on activity schedules throughout the year. Other levels of support are available; see the attached donation form. All sponsorships and donations are tax-deductible.
We hope that you will help us make this event the best one yet! The links to sponsor the SGLF 2017 are located below. You may also print and mail the sponsorship form.
Thank you in advance for your contribution. We hope to see you at the Literacy Festival!
With warmest regards,
