The Delta Book Club
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. The organization is comprised of college educated women committed to constructive development of its members and to public service with a primary focus on the Black community. Since its founding in 1913, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated has been committed to stimulating interest in art and literature thereby creating the National Commission of Arts and Letters.
In efforts to promote the literature component of the Commission, the Valdosta Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated established the Delta Book Club in 2011. The Delta Book Club’s primary focus is to promote the positive image of African Americans and other minorities in Valdosta and the surrounding counties. It also strives to encourage and support local authors in their endeavors to reach the community and gather feedback from their readers. The Delta Book Club meets quarterly and collects children’s books to donate local community centers.
